March is a special month for all of us at Subversion because we have some very exciting things going on. Firstly, March sees us team up with www.ultimatebootfetish.com who will be hosting a special boot fetish area in the club. They will have a photostudio there (it will be a dedicated area and photos will ONLY be taken with consent), a special trample cage AND if you have your photo taken and enter the competition you will have a chance win an all expenses paid trip to Italy to shoot a boot fetish set (no nudity) for the site.
Following on from that we seem to have an Italian theme too as we have DJ Ritual visiting from Rome's number one fetish club www.ritualtheclub.com - then we will be shipping out our very own Subversion resident DJ, Si to Rome on April 30th to play there. We are also looking at some other international dates for our DJs (ohhh get us eh?) so watch this space!
And as if this was not exciting enough we will be opening up another floor! Yup...the time has come to expand and give you guys a bit more room to play and chat so we will be opening up floor 3 for our busier months which will have lots of lovely booths for you to sit and chat (as the music will be at a sensible level) and some additional play areas.
This does mean we will be stricter about actually playing in the existing dungeon space and this brings us neatly on to our final bit of news; Dungeon Monitors & resident Mistresses and Masters. Subversion would like to welcome Countess De Jager to our already experienced and lovely crew of resident Mistresses and Masters who make the dungeon a safe and easy place to play and guide new guests through their first experience of Subversion.

Branding a slave

Branding refers to the use of the same physical techniques as in livestock branding on a human, notably the scarification of the body by a hot ( or sometimes cryogenically cold ) object. Persons are branded either with consent as a form of body modification; or under coercion, as a punishment or imposing masterly rights over a slave or other legally subservient inferior. It can also happen accidentally, for example from careless use of a violet wand, or purposely to create a slave mark.

Branding is usually done with a hot metal object to scar the body. It is sometimes seen as an ultimate act of submission and commitment, to slavery if not to the relationship. A brand will be with the slave for many years, and is likely to show a mark for the rest of the person's lifetime. Brands are normally placed high on the outer thigh, on the belly just above the crotch or on the breast.

A mark, normally indicating identity or ownership, is burned into the skin just as might be done on the hide of a animal, with a hot iron. The human skin is much more fragile than, say, a bull's rawhide and a lot more care needs to be taken. A human branding mark is normally much smaller than one for cattle, so care needs to be taken with the design as something too complex is unlikely to work or last.

For some slaves and owners, branding is an intense desire, indicating total commitment and psychologically stamping the slave as property so the slave truly feels owned and wanted. Branding is a common issue in Gorean slavery, often talked about in the novels.

How to brand a slave

1. The slave needs to be restrained properly. This means totally unable to move, twist or jump. If he is allowed to do so, you run the risk of ruining the brand. He must be restrained at the hips, right at the start of both legs, the middle back, and just below the shoulders, as well as above the knees. The restraints should be tight. This will hold him securely while the branding is taking place.

2. The brand should be as hot as possible. Otherwise, you will have to keep it there longer than either of you would like, and cause undue pain to your slave. The brand will need to be held on the spot with firm pressure for at least three seconds to be permanent. It should contain no circles, if possible, or there will be the cookie cutter routine, where the skin in the circle will be lifted from his body when you remove the iron. Avoid fancy loops as well, same reason.

3. Most use an initial, or two, or numbers.

4.The slave should be gagged, or have the mouth duct taped. The slave will scream when the branding is done. This is normal. There will be a lot of pain during, and afterwards.

5.The brand will have to be cared for properly. I would suggest icing the spot, with the ice covered by a cloth, to avoid damaging the area. Pain pills would be handy if you prefer the slave not suffer overly much. A good ointment can be applied later, like hydrocortisone cream.

The area is to be kept covered until it heals properly. The bandages changed often, and the area checked for infection regularly. It is to be kept clean as well. At the first sign of infection, antibiotics need to be administered.

6. If these guidelines are followed, you will have a properly branded slave.

7. There are many companies who sell branding supplies for cattle and livestock. Their standard irons are too large, in my opinion, but they will make custom irons for a slightly higher fee, so getting one made smaller should be no problem. Prepare the iron per the instructions that come with the iron. Make sure it is cleaned properly before use, and afterwards.
