Yoga and Shibari Rope Bondage

Com base num Workshop que vi anunciado há uns tempos resolvi actualizar o blog com um tema que me pareceu bastante interessante: associar a pratica de Yoga como forma de treino para Shibari.

Este Whorkshop dado pelo bailarina alemã Dasniya Sommer *, demonstra a importancia do Yoga pela aprendizagem da postura, da respiração associado ao shibari. Estas técnicas ajudam os praticantes a concentrarem-se em determinados locais do corpo em que cada postura leva cada um a diferentes situações quer anatomicas quer emocionais.

"For example, in terms of the coordination of muscle tones, the counter-balancing, the rotation and the general mobility of the spine. It is a training, which combines strength, concentration and permeability, and hence creates a fluent and alert perception."

"The tactile momentum of the rope brings our senses to the here and now and merges with the experience of rope in its qualities of sensuality and manual dexterity. As one advances, breathing and Inner Posture become more important. These progress from an ordinary state towards a happening."

"Shibari means to wind, to knot or to bind a person. It refers to a traditional and ritualized practice to tie someone up and therefore interacting in a very specific way. With great care and tenderness, in an instinctive and imaginative way, accompanied by a certain animality. The concept of duo, exchange and opposition manifests in the performance with the ropes. They can decorate the individual body and they can constrict the body to different degrees. It is a technique to develop the manual- skills and than to connect to the profound interior of a person at the same time. We will learn how to use the Shibari Technique in order to create an experience of highly personal aesthetics."

* Dasniya Sommer is a dancer and founder of the venue space ‘ Schwelle7 ’ in Berlin. As an on going investigation she examines various bodywork techniques such as Ballet and Contemporary Dance, Japanese Rope Bondage, Iyengar Yoga and Role Play. These practices assemble in her choreographic and performance work and in her teaching. In the field of emotional and physical bounds she explores social patterns of behaviour and analyses how these are linked with the thinking process. Since Dasniya was a child she was trained in different schools of Yoga and Meditation. Major impulses came from Amnuay Baddhanasiri, Ajarn Poh (Thailand) and Stefan Dreher. She studied classical and contemporary dance in Berlin and New York and danced with the Cie Felix Ruckert and the State Ballet Berlin.
